Classic Hasselblad SWC: a legendary product from Sweden in MINOX format
It has practically become a tradition for MINOX GmbH from Wetzlar to present famous photo products as miniaturized version. With this classic model the German manufacturer has succeeded in remaking a camera with medium format system in miniaturized form: the Hasselblad SWC.
Just like MINOX GmbH, the Swedish camera manufacturer, Hasselblad, boasts a long-standing tradition. Established in 1841 as a trading company, it was approximately 100 years later, in 1940, that the first camera was produced for the Swedish military. This was a copy of a German aerial surveillance camera which had survived a crash on Swedish soil during the second world war. The first camera for the consumer market was produced in 1948: the Hasselblad 1600F. This was followed in 1957 by the Hasselblad 500 C, the Hasselblad SWA, the Hasselblad EL and the Hasselblad SWC with its exceptional super wide-angle lens and compact design which superbly complements the range of the MINOX Classic Cameras. These four camera types have been the basis of the Hasselblad system for more than 50 years.
Also MINOX -a paragon of photographic miniaturization - marked its triumphant success in the fifties. It was during this time that the MINOX inventor, Walter Zapp, who is now 96, successfully assembled the legendary MINOX miniature camera from 375 individual parts, based on maxims which are still valid today: minimum size with maximum precision and perfect design.
MINOX brought a genuine reproduction of the Hasselblad SWC to the scale of 1:3. It uses the MINOX 8 x 11 mm film and with the top quality Minoctar lens 15 mm f/5.6 (three lens elements in three groups) guarantees the very best imaging results. There is a flash unit available as an accessory item, making it possible to capture excellent shots even in unfavorable light. An elegant beech wood box, which comes with the camera, is ideal for protecting this unique photo treasure.
MINOX again successfully combined two classic cameras in one, and this item undoubtedly causes great excitement among collectors.
